The best of contemporary British art comes to the Art Gallery of South Australia in Saatchi Gallery in Adelaide: British Art Now, open until 23 October 2011. The exhibition is one of AGSA’s largest ever, and brings together the audacious best straight from London’s internationally acclaimed and totally surprising Saatchi Gallery.
This is the first time Saatchi Gallery’s collection has toured to Australia. Twelve years ago the National Gallery of Australia was forced to cancel their provocative exhibition, named ‘Sensation’, due to a storm of controversy. You can catch one of the most debated works – Chris Ofili’s The Holy Mary, which features cow dung and vaginas – this time around.
More highlights include Damien Hirst’s infamous shark in formaldehyde and Tracy Emin’s My Bed; a life-size sculpture of her bedroom including filthy sheets, empty vodka bottles and much more.
In this STUDIO ArtBreak, take a tour through some of the most exciting works with AGSA Director Nick Mitzevich.
