Tubular Bells for Two

Posted in Home > Arts News > Tubular Bells for Two

This February Mike Oldfield’s iconic Tubular Bells will be brought to the stage in a reinterpretation by Australian duo Aidan Roberts and Daniel Holdsworth.

In 1973 Tubular Bells launched the career of a then nineteen year old Oldfield and became widely known through its use as the haunting theme song in the classic Hollywood horror The Exorcist .  The album was the first to be realised through Richard Branson’s Virgin Records and has sold over three million copies worldwide.

In this year’s show Roberts and Holdsworth will tackle the epic task of performing the experimental album in just 52 minutes without the help of additional musicians.  With twenty-two instruments at their disposal from guitars to glockenspiels and of course tubular bells, Tubular Bells for Two is sure to be a high energy reimagining of a seminal album in experimental progressive rock.

Tubular Bells for Two playing at Melbourne Recital Hall from Friday 15 February 2013.
