In 1972 the National Black Theatre emerged from Regent St in Sydney’s Redfern, giving new voices to the community with an explosion of plays, dance, street theatre and more. This anniversary exhibition at Sydney Festival 2012 uses photographs, film and archives to tell their story. Based at Carriageworks, the exhibition explores the movement and celebrates landmark playwrights such as Kevin Gilbert and Robert Merritt.
